A week-end and a half to Matadi
A week-end and a half to Matadi. We went on a week-end trip to Matadi from Kinshasa. We decided to leave very early Friday morning at around 4am but the trip still took us about 12 painful hours (We did stop along the way). We got stuck in Kasangulu behind a plethora of trucks.

Hotel Metropole in Matadi
The Hotel Metropole in Matadi was built between 1925 and 1930. It seems to have officially opened in 1930 according to Wikipedia. It is a gothic revival styled building (Wikipedia) and apparently designed by architect Ernest Callebout.

A day in Johannesburg and Pretoria
I drove around on a Monday to three popular sites: Zoo lake in Rosebank, the Union buildings and the Voortrekker monument in Pretoria. All of them were eerily quiet. I took these pictures.

The Democratic Republic of Congo. Wars. Corruption. Power problems. Crazy traffic. Water scarcity. Poverty. But there are also other things: generous, kind and helpful people, music, art, culture, nature, history and so many more beautiful things that are often overlooked. One of them will surprise you. It is the Lubumbashi golf course.
